Marathon

Pete Riegel in Runner's World, August 1977, in an article in that issue entitled "Time Predicting.":T2 = T1 x (D2/D1)1.06

According to Timo Vuorimaa marathon running speed is 88% of the maximum speed in 10000 meter race.

Manfred Steffny says that you can multiply your record from 10000 meters with 4.7 - 4.8 to get your marathon estimate.

Tim Noakes says that you can predict your marathon time by multiplying your record from 10000 meters (in minutes) with 5.48 and then reduce 28 from it.

If your record on 10000 meters is 50% more than the world record then your time on marathon might be 50% more than the marathon world record...
